• Question: Sorry for being anon. I'm chicken. lol -- Where did your self-confidence come from when it comes to body image? Did you always have it? We can all put on a brave face and say "I don't care what you think", but ultimately, we probably do (at least a good portion of us do). Thoughts? - Anonymous

I grew up in a very, VERY small town in rural Louisiana. When I was there, it was pretty normal for me from the get go to stick out like a tall blade of grass. Inevitably, people have all intention of cutting you down when you’re the tall blade, and people tried, but my mother always taught me to be firm and true to myself beyond whatever anyone else thinks of me. I haven’t always been this way, just started doing photoshoots a year and a half ago and before that I would have never thought to do so. I think everyone CARES about what people think of them, it’s natural, it’s what you do with it that makes the biggest difference. If someone cuts you down, use that to better what YOU feel needs to be bettered, and don’t rub it in their face once you have. We all have the little voice in our head that tells us things that we don’t like about ourselves. I wake up some mornings and think my love-handles are bigger, or my eyes are dark, or how I hate my birthmark sometimes, all of that. I’m not an exception to feeling this way, I just took charge of it by working out and doing photo shoots instead of feeling bad for myself constantly. ALL men are beautiful, especially the CONFIDENT ones. :)
